A Human Rights Approach to City Building

When we centre human rights in municipal decision making, we create communities where everyone belongs and is treated with dignity. This means tackling the cost of living and affordability crisis so everyone is not only able to survive, but able to thrive! 

I, David Alton, am running for Mayor of Kitchener to champion these values and plant them into the heart of our local government. I am tired of municipal leaders hiding from responsibility. Governments are meant to build up communities not to neglect and dismantle the tools residents of Kitchener need to live and succeed.
     
Everyday, in my work as a community facilitator, I see our neighbours stepping up to fill the gaps left behind by ineffective leadership. We are blessed in Kitchener with strong networks of mutual aid, grassroots support, and neighbourliness. I am running for Mayor to build and enrich that social infrastructure.
